Got Questions?
Fading puppy syndrome (FPS) refers to the sudden decline and death of seemingly healthy newborns within their first two weeks of life. It accounts for roughly 50% of all neonatal puppy deaths. A temperature-controlled incubator with oxygen support stabilizes body temperature, maintains proper humidity, and delivers supplemental oxygen — directly addressing the most common FPS triggers: hypothermia, hypoxia, and dehydration.
For the first four days of life, keep the incubator at 85–90°F (29–32°C). From days 5–10, reduce to 80°F (27°C). By week 4, puppies can typically tolerate 72°F (22°C) room temperature. The Puppy Safe incubator's digital thermostat maintains temperature within ±0.5°F, so you never have to guess.
Newborn puppies thrive at 50–60% relative humidity. Below 50%, they risk dehydration. Above 70%, bacterial growth becomes a concern. Puppy Safe incubators feature a real-time humidity display so you can monitor and adjust at all times using our compatible humidifier.
Most at-risk neonates need incubator support for the first 7–14 days. Healthy puppies may only need brief sessions when the mother is away for feeding. Puppies recovering from FPS or born prematurely may need 3–4 weeks of support. Your vet can help you determine the right timeline for your specific litter.
The Standard incubator comes ready with a built-in oxygen port but does not include a concentrator. Our Pro Breeder Package and Premier Package bundles include a medical-grade 5-liter or 10-liter oxygen concentrator respectively. You can also add an oxygen concentrator separately from our Supplies page.
The 18×18 standard is ideal for small to medium breeds and litters of up to 4–6 puppies. The 24×18 fits medium to large breeds or larger litters. The XXXL 40×20×20 is designed for giant breeds like Great Danes, Saint Bernards, and Mastiffs, or litters of 8+. The Portable model is perfect for travel, C-section recovery, and emergency transport regardless of breed size.
Absolutely — it's one of the most common uses. After a C-section, puppies are often hypothermic and unable to maintain body temperature on their own. The incubator provides immediate warmth, oxygen, and a safe environment while the mother recovers from anesthesia. Many breeders keep the Portable Incubator on hand specifically for scheduled C-sections.
Every Puppy Safe incubator comes with an industry-leading 36-month warranty. This covers manufacturing defects, thermostat and heating element failures, and structural issues. Our customer support team is available Mon–Fri 9am–5pm EST at support@puppysafe.com or (706) 393-0931.
Heating pads create uneven, uncontrolled heat and can cause burns. They have no humidity monitoring, no oxygen support, and no enclosed environment to maintain consistent temperature. A Puppy Safe incubator provides a precisely controlled microenvironment with ±0.5°F accuracy, real-time humidity display, built-in oxygen port, and clear acrylic visibility — features no heating pad can match.
Yes. Puppy Safe incubators are used for kittens, rabbits, guinea pigs, and other small animals by breeders and rescue organizations. We have a dedicated Kitten page with specific guidance for neonatal feline care. The same precision temperature and oxygen controls that save puppies work equally well for other neonatal animals.
Real Breeders. Real Results.
"Two of my French Bulldog puppies were showing signs of fading on day two. I put them in the incubator with oxygen overnight and by morning they were nursing. Before this incubator I would have lost them both. It paid for itself on the very first litter."
"I breed English Bulldogs — every litter is a C-section. I bring the portable incubator to the vet and the puppies go straight in while the mom is still in surgery. Zero losses since I started. The peace of mind alone is worth every penny."
"I had a litter of 11 Golden Retrievers. My smallest puppy was barely getting nursing time. I rotated her into the incubator between feedings to keep her warm and gaining. She's now the healthiest dog in the litter. I recommend this to every breeder I know."
Large Breed Ready
From Frenchies to Great Danes — the Puppy Safe incubator handles every breed size with the same precision warmth and oxygen support.
Every breeder who has lost a litter wishes they'd been prepared. The incubator that sits on your shelf is the one that saves the next puppy. Get yours before you need it.
